What vehicles are subject to Clean Truck Check?
The program generally applies to vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating over 14,000 pounds that operate on California public roads and use diesel, alternative-fuel, or hybrid engines. Certain exemptions may apply.
What type of emissions test does my vehicle need?
Most diesel vehicles with 2013 or newer engines require an OBD test. Diesel vehicles with 2012 or older engines generally require a smoke opacity test and a visual emissions-control inspection.
How often are vehicles tested?
Most covered vehicles currently require testing twice per year. Beginning in October 2027, most OBDequipped vehicles will require four tests per year. Qualifying agricultural vehicles and California-registered recreational motorhomes remain on an annual schedule.
How early can a vehicle be tested?
A passing test can generally be submitted up to 90 days before the compliance deadline shown in CTC-VIS.
Do you come to our location?
Yes. We provide mobile testing at fleet yards, jobsites, customer facilities, storage locations, repair shops, and other suitable locations.
Can you test vehicles remotely?
Eligible OBD-equipped vehicles may be tested remotely through an approved connected device or supported telematics platform. We will review your fleet and identify which vehicles qualify
Do you work with small fleets?
Yes. We work with individual vehicle owners, small businesses, and large fleets with vehicles at multiple locations.
What happens if a vehicle fails?
We provide the test result and available diagnostic information so your maintenance team or repair facility can address the problem. Once the vehicle is ready, we provide the retest at no additional charge
What does Not Ready mean?
A Not Ready result generally means the vehicle has not completed the required emissions-monitoring checks. This can happen after diagnostic codes have been cleared, batteries have been disconnected, or recent repairs have been completed. The vehicle may need additional driving or engine operation before it can be retested.
What do retests cost?
Free! For your convenience and peace of mind retests are provided at no additional charge.
Can you manage our CARB account?
Yes. For fleets enrolled in our testing program, we can monitor deadlines, manage vehicle information, pay fees at cost, review results, submit forms, monitor CARB communications, and help resolve compliance issues.
Can you help with a DMV registration hold?
Yes. We can review the vehicle's CARB account, determine what is missing, complete testing when needed, and assist with resolving the compliance problem.
Do you service fleets throughout California?
Yes. We support fleets throughout California, including businesses with vehicles operating from multiple locations.
Can remote testing include GPS and fleet reporting?
Yes. Optional services may include GPS tracking, vehicle history, mileage, engine hours, idle reporting, faultcode alerts, maintenance reminders, driver behavior, geofencing, and customized reporting.
